Multiply Again

Evil never added up
way back as a teen
superficial reasons 
not into red tailed things.
But not connecting all the dots
and so it came to pass
didn't do the golden rule
and wandered off the path. 
Once I tried about a week
to be a thoughtful person
extremely nice to everyone
not some deserve "this version".  
It really made a difference
it changed the way
they were
but I didn't follow up 
I didn't add me too.
Still it wasn't all that bad
won some four year help
thought I didn't have a heart
but then the kids showed up.
Really wanted good for them
jumping over fences
good was not an exercise
it tickled of redemption.    
Then discovered country
working with the vets
cried about the children
most had lost their dads.
Now good was larger than before
it was the size of nations
and so it went to the next step
math and muliplication. 
I know it's sounding crazy 
adding up to what? 
Just went from love of self
then parents, wife and kids
to vets and country
and so it came to pass
subtracted intro loving
to outdoor living vast.
It was the great reversal
the good all went away
kids grew up got jobs
went south

Walmart my new place.

One evening I was sitting
in the lawn care section
looking up at the bright moon
doing introspection.   

Feeling good about it
gave up drinking too
when a voice said

"multiply
you add too much."

Garden with a view.    

Walmart open till eleven
it was six o'clock
I was sitting near a fountain
it was going up.

I could see my van out back
people walking by
when the multiplier
went to work in stock.   

Everything just went away
as my life was when
the best love I ever knew
now multiplied times ten.
