Boston After Dark

Boston After Dark   ***

Once walked the streets of Boston
tall buildings either side
sidewalk people staring
stop the war our guide.

We were young that morning
stopping traffic too
Boston scene of marching
not bands but bombing news.

Billy Graham young man then
preaching in the sun
while I sat there in the grass
watching him

Jesus promises.

Prudential Center one time
backstage Sarah Vaughan
ran in grabbing Basie
remember joyful sounds.

Went out with a woman
had clients I was broke
bargain of a lifetime
some courses in the moat.

At a party in Back Bay
New York Times reporter
wanted me to go upstairs
to see his etchings

no thanks keep asking
hopeless.

Saw Bobby Orr one time
celebrating champs
all the boys waving to us
huge crowds

and happy signs.

Saw Teddy Kennedy exit
a cool brownstone one day
immaculate waving
so young and fresh
few years after

his brother passed away.

Boston in the summertime
sails upon the Charles
lived awhile where Martin met
his wife and stayed awhile.

Saw Mickey Mantle in left field
at Fenway Park one time
walked halls of university
Marsh Chapel

LSD trials.

All these things I packed away
began the slog went on
for decades

and had three great kids
a different life down south.

Recovering some memories
polishing with care
life has some great moments
time for aged repair!!

Alcohol depression
wrestling with Sauron
what did you expect
to find there Slick?

Innocence in a way
naive by many miles
but here we are.

Jim Morrison was worn out
while he was still
quite young.

Boston Arena
the early set was "tame"
few gestures with the mike stand
but Jim was still okay
later on things got real wild
but we were home by then

Me and Kathy my first lady
and so it goes...
till now.

Everyone is going slowly
where rich and poor
have gone.

Waiting To Reappear

I had a state park pass that was stolen, appaently, off the mirror in my van.  It was a LIFE pass, good for geisers, who do not have enough...
