No Date Tonight

 

 

Always ready to be wrong
a little exercise
with each message
to the brain

out there blind dating.

Start out with another day
begin with a nice lunch
or picnic as I once did
down by a stream  

her spot. 

With a lovely lady
a blanket and some tea
way before Ms. Nonie
thankful it was free. 

Just a see you later
not really mad at all
no idea why this was
unable to recall.

Just a pleasant walk one day
and over then it was
interviewing strangers
no unpleasantness at all. 

But we are adventures
in our porous skins
happy just to spend
some time

walking doing spins. 

She made a lovely picnic
spent some time and tried
I really should be grateful
 
there comes an age when I
won't be going anywhere
to see or smile or dance

I think we may be near that time
or, in fact, it passed.

We've gone on
through the meadows
tried our best to swim
and God said

you are better now
I leave you with a gift. 

She is for you and true will be
as you wobble around
so be yourself the one there was
before you nonsensed out.  

Be a child again my son
no more interviews
this gift I give you
care for her

be wise and listen too.
