Threesome

Poem of the two of us

a delicate affair

neighbors stop by

smitten kittens

just to see you here.

And then tea cups

rusty cotters

laughter in the yard

miners of gold rings

lawn fixtures

well thumped playing cards.

Old men, neighbors, beer drinkers

sharing summer squash

home alone at night

and searching

lawn riders, shirts off.

I watch their eyes when they arrive

tanned and feeling fine

you can do a bathing suit

I'm proud of you

Sunshine.

All the things they seldom mention

histories unknown. Ripped apart,

discarded, listen!

They can't help themselves.

You're the one loves me alone

makes jewelry and sighs

tells me what to do with it

helps with rhythm, rhymes.

Days go by soon into fall

then winter toward spring

summer comes along again

and we wear the ring.

I am the one you shouldn't want

the one can't tie his shoes

spends much time just doing this

and whispering to you.

Luck reaches down upon our nest

and tells me, long life "sleep"

garden of the grateful, threesome

He and you and me.

Waiting To Reappear
