Daylight Dreams

I try to write and say to self

Oh no I waste the day

self calls my name

ends with an itch

suggests we drive away.

I thought to sit enjoying birds

reminded of new songs

as branches bend and scrawl

a bit

I would sing along.

Thank you Lord for song the dawn

everything renewed

no worries about authorship

nature nursing tunes.

So up and down the road we go

no stops just fly away

soon a tiny fawn appears

most likely born today.

Wobbles behind mama

tries to cross the road

no bigger than a fire plug

falls in the bush

Oh no!

Me, myself and "bye" we go

self backseated now

wife is elsewhere doing things

while crazy tries to plow.

Soon the road is golden bricks

it happens take my word

Dorothy in the front seat

perched like a love bird.

Lion grabs the back seat rest

self says "What the hey!"

scarecrow spots his twin out there

tin man jumps up "let's play!"

Out there in the vegetables!

axe swinging at the crows

wizard round here somewhere

I think it's time to go.

Dorothy still smiling

dark spinner coming down

when you start to levitate

you're Kansas City bound!

Self takes all the bottles

throws them out the door

we wake up on the avenue

been sleeping on the floor.

Six years sober yesterday

mowed the lawn looks nice

dreams are strange

but here we are

sheet change night sweats

new day!

Retirement reflective place

bunnies awesome yard

wobble out it's Sunday

morn

no need to write

do lawn.

Waiting To Reappear

I had a state park pass that was stolen, appaently, off the mirror in my van.  It was a LIFE pass, good for geisers, who do not have enough...
